Senior Accountant – Managed Accounting Services
We are hiring an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take greater ownership of the close process, strengthen client financial operations, and help growing businesses build scalable accounting foundations.

The Opportunity:

Arcus Advisors is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a growing portfolio of managed accounting clients. This role is responsible for executing core accounting processes, managing month-end close activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and helping clients develop stronger and more scalable accounting operations.

As a Senior Accountant, you will move beyond basic transaction processing and become a trusted member of the client service team. You will own significant portions of the close process, research accounting issues, develop documentation, identify opportunities for improvement, and help ensure clients receive accurate and timely financial information.

What You’ll Do:

Manage Day-to-Day Accounting Operations

  • Process and review cash, accounts payable, payroll, credit card, and other recurring transactions
  • Maintain supporting schedules and subsidiary ledgers
  • Monitor cash activity and assist with cash management and funding needs
  • Investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting issues as they arise
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently across client engagements

Execute the Month-End Close

  • Prepare bank, balance sheet, and other account reconciliations
  • Maintain prepaid expense and fixed asset schedules
  • Record recurring and non-recurring journal entries
  • Prepare accruals and other period-end adjustments
  • Analyze account activity and investigate unusual fluctuations
  • Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reporting packages

Improve Processes and Build Documentation

  • Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures and client-specific process documentation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort
  • Help implement technology, automation, and process improvements
  • Ensure workpapers and documentation remain organized, current, and review-ready

Collaborate With Clients and Internal Teams

  • Communicate professionally with clients to obtain information and resolve questions
  • Work closely with managers and engagement leaders to meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Support the onboarding of new clients, processes, and systems
  • Assist in training and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high-quality client service

What Success Looks Like:

  • Reconciliations are completed accurately and on time
  • Journal entries are properly supported, documented, and technically sound
  • Month-end close timelines are predictable and consistently achieved
  • Workpapers are organized and review-ready
  • Issues are identified before they become larger problems
  • Client questions receive thoughtful and timely responses
  • Accounting conclusions are supported by clear analysis rather than assumptions

You May Love This Role If:

  • You like understanding why something is correct, not simply getting it completed
  • You naturally review your own work and notice when details do not tie out
  • You enjoy investigating reconciliations until the root cause is identified
  • You like building schedules, workpapers, and documentation that make future work easier
  • You enjoy researching accounting questions and developing well-supported conclusions
  • You are comfortable managing multiple deadlines without constant direction
  • You are energized by technology, automation, and opportunities to improve repetitive processes
  • You appreciate clear accountability and take ownership of outcomes

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Three or more years of accounting experience, preferably within public accounting, client accounting services, outsourced accounting, or a multi-entity environment
  • Strong understanding of accrual-based accounting and generally accepted accounting principles
  • Experience preparing account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and cloud-based accounting systems
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or active CPA candidate
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage, NetSuite, or other cloud-based accounting applications
  • Experience supporting multiple clients or business entities simultaneously
  • Experience documenting processes, preparing technical accounting analyses, or supporting financial statement preparation

Our benefit offerings:

  • Full healthcare benefits
  • Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
  • 401(k) matching
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • Health and wellness contribution
